Our client is a general-build and construction contracting firm in the field of commercial, institutional, industrial and heavy civil work.
Job Responsibilities: 1) Plan activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems 2) Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling as well as implementation 3) Review bid documents to identify special requirements 4) Assist with mitigation of risks 5) Participate in pre-bid meetings 6) Establish bid strategies 7) Prepare take-offs, schedules and price estimates 8) Make preliminary schedules and general requirements for reviewing 9) Prepare cost proposals and budgets
Job Requirements: 1) P.Eng. license and CET or Quantity Surveying designation along with or Gold Seal Certificate (or working towards it) 2) 10 years of experience in estimating and tendering construction projects (commercial, industrial, institutional and/or water and waste water sectors) including Canadian experience 3) Experience in estimating water/waste water projects ($1M to $50M) 4) Project management or site experience an asset Timberline Estimating Software a plus 5) Knowledge of local construction market including competitors, sub trades and suppliers 6) Understanding of the process mechanical and electrical systems inside a water treatment plant and/or M&E of buildings 7) Proficient in MS Office (MS Excel, Word, MS Project) as well as knowledge of 8) Proven working relationships with local sub trades (GTA, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Barrie, Whitby/Oshawa areas) 9) Ability to conceptualize, build and schedule the project mentally 10) Self-motivated individual with good team skills
